Ask for support for your next Powhiri.
Our local kaumatua are always called upon to support roopu (groups), schools, organisations, businesses during the powhiri process.
It can be a very special, memorable and beautiful process to participate in.
When groups of people come together to discuss issues of the day, to welcome visitors or new staff, the powhiri provides a sense of structure and occassion.
Find out more about the process of powhiri so you feel comfortable the next time you participate.
Te Roopu Awhina o Wairoa's role is to empower staff and students in the Howick Ward to feel more confident to hold and lead powhiri or attend social events where participation in a powhiri is required.
